Teacher Supervision and Evaluation Award
PASCD EXEMPLARY PRACTICES IN TEACHER SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION AWARD This award, given each year at the annual PASCD Conference, recognizes the work of PA school districts in developing and implementing outstanding systems of teacher supervision and evaluation. In addition to receiving the award at the conference, the district is also given the opportunity to share its exemplary system in a future conference small group session. All districts in the Commonwealth who believe they have established outstanding supervision and evaluation systems (that will be in at least their third year of implementation) are encouraged to apply for the award. Districts who wish to be considered for the award should submit a letter of interest to the address listed below. Each district will then be asked to supply specific documentation concerning its policies and procedures. After members of the Supervision Committee have reviewed the written documentation, a district(s) may be selected for a site visit conducted to determine if the supervision and evaluation system meets the criteria for the award. Districts that apply but are not selected for a site visit will receive feedback on their systems and will be encouraged to re-apply in the future. The specific criteria for the award are: * the processes for judging competence are clearly separated from the processes for enhancing growth * supervision and evaluation are high district priorities * opportunities for differentiated supervision are provided by the system * the process for evaluation makes expectations and criteria for satisfactory performance clear * the organizational climate is conducive for effective supervision and evaluation * the entire teacher supervision and evaluation system is aimed at enhancing student learning * the supervision and evaluation system is in at least its third year of implementation Letters of interest for the award should be forwarded by August 1st.
