PASCD Emerging Leader Program

PASCD is committed to building capacity to improve learning, teaching, and leadership. To this end, PASCD has created an Emerging Leaders program, patterned after the ASCD program. The goal of this leadership program is to prepare younger educators from across the state for leadership positions and to strengthen PASCD’s voice for influencing policy and practice. Beginning in 2014, a new cadre of Emerging Leaders will be selected bi-annually.

During this two-year program, Emerging Leaders will be paired with a PASCD mentor, provided opportunities for connecting with other educators, and participate in and organize professional development opportunities to experience personal and professional growth.

Who would be eligible for PASCD’s Emerging Leader Class?

Educators who have been in the profession for approximately 5-15 years, demonstrate a passion for teaching, learning, and leadership, hold promise as leaders, are committed to PASCD’s beliefs, and to pursuing leadership opportunities.

How does the Emerging Leader Program Work?

The new Emerging Leader Class will be selected and notified in early August.  The initial meeting of the class will be on Sunday, November 13, in King of Prussia, PA.  During this day, Emerging Leaders will have the opportunity to interact, learn, and grow with  PASCD leadership and current ASCD Emerging Leaders from Pennsylvania.  Emerging Leaders will then attend the 2016 PASCD Annual Conference, November 13-14 at the Crowne Plaza in King of Prussia .  The PASCD Annual Conference features local and national educators as keynote speakers, small group sessions, and opportunities to network with PASCD member from across the Commonwealth.  Complimentary conference registration is included as part of the Emerging Leaders program.  Lodging and travel is at the expense of the Emerging Leader. Grants may be available through the ten PASCD regions.

Over the next two years, Emerging Leaders will:

  • become part of a network of educators, expanding their professional reach

  • assist in developing PASCD social networking platforms

  • have the opportunity to write for PASCD through blogs, a newsletter, and other outlets

  • receive PASCD communications including the journal, Pennsylvania Educational Leadership

  • have the opportunity to connect with the state affiliate and local region leadership

  • have the opportunity to participate in activities for Emerging Leaders at the PASCD Annual Conference

At the conclusion of the program, emerging leaders receive a certificate of completion and a letter of congratulations from PASCD. Emerging Leaders alumni are encouraged to remain involved with PASCD and continue their leadership and influence through formal and informal leadership roles.

PASCD is seeking a talented, passionate group of education professionals for the Class of 2016 to become the next generation of PASCD leaders. Are you up for the challenge?
